Bioinformatics

Books

This is only a small selection of the bioinformatics books I use all the time. It is in no way exhaustive. It is not even complete and many key books are still missing. I will add an advanced section when I got time.

My Favorite Bioinformatics Books

[AMAZON]
My favorite Bioinformatics text book! I know that in 20 years time, I will still be browsing the original edition for new ideas. This book is dense and austere, but it can work miracles if you need a deep understanding of Bayesian bioinformatics without being a mathematician. Just like all great books, this one has its nickname: The Durbin

This book was designed for students and anybody willing to get a quick overview of bioinformatics tools. It does not contain much on algorithm and computer science, but will be ideal if you need to run a BLAST or search a database. A very useful support book for online practicals.

A good basic introduction to structural bioinformatics. Done by some of the best specialists in the field.

If you want to do your own bioinformatics, you need to know about Perl. This book is a good introduction.
